Report: Top 10 Streaming Services for 2017

Parks Associates’s latest Top 10 list of paid “over the top” (OTT) video services is out and this year’s list is mostly unchanged from last year.

The notable exceptions are that HBO Now has jumped into the top 5 (up from #7 in last year’s ranking) and Sling TV, the only live TV streaming provider to make the list, is down to #10 from its #6 ranking of last year.

Here’s the 2017 Top 10 from Parks Associates:

1. Netflix
2. Amazon Prime
3. Hulu (Not Hulu with Live TV)
4. MLB.TV
5. HBO Now
6. Starz
7. YouTube Red
8. Showtime
9. CBS All Access
10. Sling TV.

As mentioned, Sling TV, fell from #6 down to #10. The drop is most likely attributed to increased competition from new entrants into the OTT TV market like DIRECTV NOW, Vue and Hulu Live.

“The combination of recognized brands and popular original content is driving demand for their offerings. Services such as Sling TV and Crunchyroll are still enjoying strong growth, but other services have simply grown at a faster rate over the past year.” – Brett Sappington of Parks Research

Parks Research announced recently announced that there are more than 200 OTT video services available in the U.S. today, with 87% offering some form of a subscription option.
