With these additions, Hulu Live TV is fast closing in on 300 local stations, well ahead of competitor’s DIRECTV NOW, who at last count had 187 and Sony’s Playstation Vue with 181 as of this writing.

Here is the list of Fox affiliates being added to Hulu Live as of today:

  • KBFX-TV in Bakersfield, California
  • KUQI-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas
  • WDKY-TV in Lexington, Kentucky
  • WOLF-TV in Wilkes Barre-Scranton, Pennsylvania
  • WTGS-TV in Savannah, Georgia
  • WTTE-TV in Columbus, Ohio
  • WTVC-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee
  • WUHF-TV in Rochester, New York
  • WUTV-TV in Buffalo, New York.

With these additions, Hulu now has at least 2 local channels in 80% of the US.

Hulu’s lead in local channel acess is even more compelling considering that, outside of owned and operated markets, it has no ABC affiliates on board. Despite this, we agree with the assessment of Fierce Cable’s Daniel Frankel:

“With virtual operators offering basically the same selection of top cable channels in their skinny bundles, the service that has the most locals in any given market has a big advantage.”
