We have confirmed that the Fox Now app has been updated to include live programming from your local Fox affiliate feed as well as Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, FX East, FX West, FXX East, FXX West, FXM, National Geographic East, National Geographic West and Nat Geo Wild.
Most importantly for cord cutters, especially those that do not currently have access to their local Fox network affiliate, this update means you can now stream the live primetime hours at no cost. Fox has chosen, at least initially, to offer this content for free, unlike others (cough, cough, CBS all access).
Initially, you get an hour of free streaming without having to sign in. Once that has expired, you will need to sign in with your TV provider to authenticate your access.
For example, I was able to use my DIRECTV NOW sign-in and after a quick authorization routine, I was granted what appears to be unlimited access to the Fox networks, including my local WBRC Fox 6 affiliate.
The local stream does not include news programming and appears to only be activated during prime time hours programming. All other channels are active 24/7 for on demand and live playback.
